Programmes

JANPATH acts as Network Platform and a Solidarity forum. Thus its programmes are basically focusing on building larger opinion on the issue, advocacy for bringing policy change etc. However from time to time, JANPATH has also taken up key issues affecting marginalized and worked on it in more focused way, so as to bring it on the mainstream agenda of the voluntary sector. The issues are suggested by General Body Members during Annual Genral Meeting. The criteria for selection is that issue should be lesser known, lesser worked, and need of policy change, and advocacy with government, society, and other stakeholders.

Method/approach :

  • working group formed of org, concerned individual, eminent citizens, who has either worked on the issue or significantly can influence the stakeholders.
  • Action based research initiated on the topic. Stakeholders identified, and involved from very beginning.
  • Strategy for each of the issue if different depending on nature/gravity of the issue, status and strength of the communities as primary stakeholders etc.
  • JANPATH works by designing “withdrawal plan” – so that after few years, this issue is either taken up by many organizations, or an independent initiative is born out of it. JANPATH provides support to new initiative whenever and wherever required.
